Three Months to Register Death?

On 13th December 1908 Florence Maybury, nee Hueshaw, died at the British Army base in Bareilly, India.
Her husband, William John Maybury was serving there as a Corporal in the 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. Yet it was not until 3rd March 1909 that her death was registered at Bareilly by, T.B. Winter Lt. Col. R.A.M.C. Station Hospital Bareilly. That is nearly three months later.
Was this normal at that time?
I have been wondering if W.J. Maybury was also ill, so the delay in registration? If he were away from base for nearly three months surely the M.O. would have registered the death anyway before then?
Any thoughts please?

(I have another relative who never registered her sons birth until he was 21yrs! Ancestors do not make things easy for later researchers. )

PS. Just seen I can't spell "Three" (3)!! not "Thre" as originally posted! redf)

Re: Three Months to Register Death?

A very remote area of Northern India.
2 signatures may have been required on the death certificate.
The C.O may have needed someone else to witness it and waited a long time for that person to arrive.
I don't know?
Have you checked Indian family history site?
