This was a very interesting programme, as it was 'recent' history.
It gave an account of a community that was set up to dig a railway tunnel in Cumbria from 1869-1875, for the Midland Railway Co.
It also gave an account of one enterprising family who took in 14 lodgers, in a stone built 3 roomed cottage.
I also found out the meaning of 'Tramp' as in traveller. "One who tramps(walks) between jobs, with no fixed abode. And not as I thought, a social 'dropout'.
Interesting.
