Hi.
I am new to forums and am finding it totally confusing. Am I in the right place to ask this question?
I am building a family tree in Ancestry but encountering a problem.
When adding family members, children, for instance they do not appear in d.o.b. order.
Each new member appears to the left of the original regardless of their d.o.b.
Can any one help sort this?

Regards

John

Have you tried viewing your tree, in Pedigree view, instead of family tree view.

It may also be, how you have written dates of birth.....Ancestry is a bit touchy how that's done.

You may need to contact Ancestry if it remains the same......face book is best for that, as it then becomes open for all to view, if there are problems with their site.

Hi,
Not sure what you mean 'by left' of the original.
To get children in DOB order if you right click on one of the children you will bring up a menu, 9th item down 'sort children by birth order'

To add children to a couple you must be at the level of them - then you can enter their children at the bottom - only if you are making entries on the 'people' heading!

Thanks for your info.
Somehow or other the matter has resolved itself, after viewing the tree many times and still having people in the wrong dob order suddenly it has corrected itself.
To explain the original problem, I entered my father and the added his siblings instead of being positioned to the right hand side of him, they were all younger, they appeared on the left.
Your suggestion of right clicking didn't produce the set children by birth date order option.
But as I say it has corrected itself somehow. As I explaine I am a complete novice so something I did or didn't do.

Thanks again

John

p.risboy, Hi.

Thanks for returning my message.

Viewed my tree in Pedigree view but it only showed a small number of people, seven out of the fifteen or so in the other view.

The problem seems to have sorted itself, after many times viewing the tree still with the incorrect date order of the people, suddenly they are in order.

I won't question the why or how just pleased to have it corrected.

Thanks again

regards John

AdamsonE60. Hi.

Thanks for your reply.

I think I have updated my personal details now?

The problem of persons in correct dob order seems to have resolved itself.

After viewing the tree many times with no change would you believe the next time I accessed it it had corrected itself.

Something I did or didn't do? I am just pleased it is now correct.

Thanks again for your input.

Regards

John
