TRELOAR HENRY 41 JUL 1853 EUPHEMUS 10 117
TRELOAR THOMAS 20 JUL 1853 EUPHEMUS 10 118

I don't know for sure if Henry is Nancy's spouse or why son Thomas was not in either listing.

Thomas c. 25 Aug 1831 Wendron, Cornwall, England
- parents Thomas & Mary ?
Is that an error or is it a different Thomas?

His death reg is no help: #9612 1906 Narrandera age 75

I'm hoping the Jane HOCKING ? is a clue:

Henry TRELOAR c. 3 Apr 1814 Wendron, Cornwall, England
Father: Daniel Treloar Mother: Jane Lugg
Spouse: Nanny Roskally Hosking ? [Nancy ? HOCKING?]
Marriage: 5 Aug 1837 It is a private IGI but the date is orrect:

Marriages Sep 1837
HOSKING Nanny Roskilly Penzance 9 204
TRELOAR Henry Penzance 9 204

That marriage is after the birth of some of the children?

I can't see a death in NSW for either Henry or Nancy. Perhaps they both died in Ballarat?

What do I need?

Regards,

Dave

Hi g d cooper,

Thanks. I'm not sure if there is a connection or not yet. Most of the ones in my tree were either around Ballarat or Narrandera.

Dave

Hello,

There is a Daniel b. 1841 (after census) son of Henry b. abt 1814 and mother Nanny Roskilly or Roskally HOSKING or HOCKING b: Abt 1811-1817 in St Hilary, Penzance (or Camborne?), Cornwall c: 22 Sep 1811? or 22 Mar 1817? in St Hilary? or Cambornne ?

who married a Mary Ann PASCOE

Seems Daniel died in Victoria?
Death: 1914 age 73 in Portland, Vic. ?

Oh  It seems their first-born is Henry born 1838 - marriage was in 1837.

Nancy & Henry (marriage had to be before 1832) are not Nanny & Henry (marriage in 1837 and a different set of children). But there is still the HOCKING connection so I bet Nanny and Nancy are sisters!! Who can prove it? :D

The two sets of children overlap so it's not the same Henry with a 2nd spouse, yet it's claimed both Henry's have parents Daniel and Jane LUGG.

Some death reg from Victoria will help sort some of this out. And finding the marriage of Henry & Nancy around 1831 will also help.

Where is Thomas born 1831 at census time in 1841?

Regards,

Dave

Dear Dave

I am getting quite lost with your brood !
Have you got all the details of Thomas Treloar born 1831 in Wendron Cornwall and his wife Jane Gribble and all their 13 children.
Jane was the daughter of Benjamin Gribble and Mary Brown of Redruth

If you haven't
www.familysearch.org have the details although submitted by Murray and Ann Carter of Earlwood NSW

If you need them let me know, if not send message " got them all "

Maddie

Hello Maddie,

Yes, got all 13 thanks. It's the TRELOAR side I'm trying to confirm. There is not much to go on because Thomas' death reg provides very little.

The other TRELOAR family should look like this:

Henry b. 1814 Wendron or Illogan
Nanny b. abt 1815
Henry b. 1838 Penzance ?
Jane b. 1840
Daniel b. 1841
Samuel b. 1843
William b. 1845
Elizabeth b. 1846
Susan b. 1849
Thomas b. 1852
John b. 1854

Seems not all the children were born/baptised in the same place. The first two possibly St Hilary Penzance, the next two possibly in Wendron and the rest possibly in Crane.

I'd like a look up please for this family in 1841 and 1851 (in which Henry - head is a 37 yo miner).

Thanks.

Dave

Hello Maddie,

Thank you very much.

Now I need to find if Henry in the shipping record is Nancy's spouse and that marriage and if they are the parents of Thomas.

Hello angel24,

The other names such as Maddox mean nothing to me, sorry. I can't see any connection to the TRELOARs in my tree.

Do you have a copy of John's death certificate from 1854? Possibly you are asking here because you do and it doesn't list his parents.

A few days ago I purchased on-line a marriage and a death from Victoria BDM site for $17.50 each in .pdf format downloaded immediately. I converted the images to .jpg so they could be posted but one became unreadable.

Dave

Hi All,
I now have the marriage certificate for John Treloar and Mary Ann James and also shipping records for John and his parents William and Ann they came to Australia in 1847 on the British Sovereign,

there is a web site which is run by a Patricia Taggart from New Zealand which has a lot of Treloar information from Cornwall,

Hello Angel24,

Index to Assisted British Immigration 1839-1871

TRELOAR HENRY 41 - JUL 1853 EUPHEMUS 10 117

TRELOAR THOMAS 20 - JUL 1853 EUPHEMUS 10 118

Thomas aged 20 in 1853 is the one in my tree. From the web site I have found this:

"Thomas TRELOAR was baptised 25 August 1831 Trelubbus, Lowertown, Wendron; went to Australia, farmed at Ballarat and had a large family."

Parents Thomas & Mary COUCH.

He would be the one who married Jane GRIBBLE in Ballarat on 15 Aug 1857. They had 13 children. :D

Henry aged 41 in 1853 - assuming +/- 5 years for errors in the listing I can't find a Henry who came to Australia who fits.

Curious.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Angel24,

I'm not sure at all. So far I can actually only connect Thomas. I don't know how Henry is related to the others who came on that vessel. I'm not even sure that Henry is the spouse of Nancy because he does not appear with her and the children in the census:

1851
Piece: HO107/1910 Place: St Clement -Cornwall Enumeration District: 2e
Civil Parish: St. Feock Ecclesiastical Parish: -
Folio: 859 Page: 7 Schedule: 25
Address: Devoran
Surname First name(s) Rel Status *** Age Occupation Where Born Remarks
TRELOAR Nancy Head M F 43 Blacksmiths Wife Cornwall - Kea
TRELOAR Elizabeth Ann Dau U F 18 Dressmaker Cornwall - Redruth
TRELOAR Cath Jane Dau U F 15 Scholar Cornwall - Redruth
TRELOAR Emily Dau - F 12 Scholar Cornwall - Redruth
TRELOAR Ellen Dau - F 10 Scholar Cornwall - Redruth
TRELOAR Henry Son - M 2 Scholar Cornwall - Feock
PORTER Cath Jane Niece U F 19 Drapers Assistant Cornwall - Kenwyn

From that it is possible Nancy's name was PORTER. I'm not sure. You may be right and Henry was not in the census listing for some reason. Emily may have gone from Australia to NZ where she died.

Dave

Hello Dave
I have also found Catherine Jane Treloar married 1857 in Victoria to William Beynon Catherine Beynon died 1861 Reg. No5525 Father Henry Treloar Mother Nancy Whitburn

so i feel this is the family who came on the Euphemus

Father Henry Mother Emily Reg NO. 13771

this could be the Emily chrs 13-7-1844 Wendron parents Thomas Treloar and Mary Roberts

I am trying to get the book written by Orson Lee Treloar i believe you can buy it from America if i obtain this i will let you know if i find anything on your family, i have asked my library here in Australia to get it for me

Best of Luck with your research
