Just finished watching Trooping the Colour on Tv.:)

An amazing spectacle, which I thoroughly enjoy. The colour, the history and buildings, the timing, and amazing crowds of people.

Full marks to all the soldiers and servicemen on parade, and the horses are magnificent.

Great you liked it Steve.

Fantastic day of British Pomp! :)

It is really a very hard day, I know as I was a Grenadier Guard and actually did it in 1973/4 and 1975. In 1975 I was actually in the "Escort to the Colour".

Days and days of practice, getting up early hours, really takes it out of you. So much so a number of Guards collapse and are taken away. In 1975 when I was doing the escort through the ranks "showing the colours" there was such a clatter - one of the Blues & Royals had collapsed and fell off his horse!

Great day though...especially when it is over and you are allowed to go out of the barracks for some rest and recuperation :)

Just dug out a picture of the 1975 program....memories!

I am left with a tinge of sadness at the trooping of the colour these days.
They are to me evidence of the frailness of Her Majesty the Queen, gone are the proud days of the youthful queen riding sidesaddle throughout the parade, obviously enjoying every minute.
Cheers

What great memories you have Dave....and the program looks great.

The 70,s remind me of Hot summers with the Limes Boys, egg and chips and crackerjack.

Good stuff.
