Although Mary Janes birth shows in Dec quarter 1862, there is this entry in 1871 for a Mary A Burton born 1860 Kennington (East Ashford District)
The image does appear to say Mary A though.

Kennington, King Street.

Charles Burton, Head age 36 b Kennington, Ag Lab
Ann Burton, wife age 32 b Challock
Maud A Burton, Dau, age 15 b Challock
Mary A Burton, Dau age 11, b Kennington
Lucretia Burton, Dau age 9, b Kennington
Charles W, Son age 6, b Kennington
Walter, Son age 3, b Kennington
Rose J, Dau age 9 months.

RG10; Piece: 962; Folio: 78; Page: 21
The only way to be certain if this is the correct family is to buy her birth certificate or her marriage cert for fathers name.

Next door are:-
George Burton, Head age 30, b Boughton Aluph? Kent, Ag lab
Grace V, wife age 24, b Boughton Aluph? Kent
Wlater G, Son age 10 months.

Thanks for that info,i have that family but i am not sure.I have just found a Mary j on the 1871 censu age 8 in Willesborough Kent, she is listed as daughter in law, mother is a Martha Elizabeth Burton b Ashford,Mary's father is James Law b Lydd Kent,so this must be Martha's 2nd marriage.I will try and find her first marriage. Can you check the 1871 for me just to confirm that it might be the right one.

Kind Regards

Drew

The one you have found looks like a possibility in 1871, it does look to me as if the image could be Burton not Burden.

There is this marriage to support a possible second marriage.
Sep 1865
Burton, Martha Elizabeth, E Ashford 2a 905

Or of course, Mary J could have been illigitamate. You really need her birth certificate to be certain.
