Hello,

I'm looking for the birth and death of twin brothers E J & A C BAYS.

They were born in England probably early 1800s. They went to Australia date unknown where they started a newspaper around 1853 and around 1861 they returned to England.

A relative is William Golding/Goulding BAYS b. 1826 Suffolk.

Another relative is Frank Buckle BAYS b. ?

I'm not making much progress with this one.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

If you havent got their first names this might help, it gives one of the names. You may already have seen it.

BAYS COURT

Possibly named after Mr E. J. Bays and Mr A. C. Bays (twins who were called ‘the fathers of the Ipswich Press’). Edward Bays was a petitioner for Ipswich to become a Municipality.

Still looking:biggrin:

Dont know if this is any good to you. On search pilot on familysearch site there are a list of kids births for Scott and Maria. It appears to be your Scott and Maria's family. If you have trouble finding it let me know.

Hello gibbo,

Yes, thanks.

I found most of them there but I didn't see Frank Buckle.

I'm making no progress with finding a birth for James or finding his parents or the parents of Charles.

The twins were cousins to children of Charles so that should make James and Charles brothers although I'm not sure James was born in Cambridge.

Regards,

Dave

Would the death cert. for James Scott Bays give anything do you think? A father's name maybe.

Death certificate is unlikely to list either parent.

Looks as though we can't even find them in 1841 census. Might be lucky with later years. Might give place of birth and a rough age.

:2fun: Thanks.

I had not got that far. Ok, he is older than Charles.

Well it confirms he was born where Charles was, Cambridge. :D

Now to work on Scott. :) A BAYS & SCOTT marriage ???

Thanks gibbo. :D

Can I give you all my brick walls now? You are on a hot streak. :2fun:

You have just found the baptism records that prove Charles in my tree (born about 1805 Cambridge from 1841 census) and James S are brothers.

Charles & family are in the same parish in 1841 & 1851.

If its the right family your James S may have been a twin as well or maybe just baptised on the same day.

1801 Bays Sarah G daughter of James and Frances District Camb. St Edwards

Theres also a couple more kids belonging to this James and Frances.

Thanks. I'm sure it's the right family.

Pity it's not a direct line because we've just gone back one generation. :D

It's way out on a limb of my tree.

Just a family connected to the ones I'm currently looking at NOBLE & SLAUGHTER & JEFFCOAT & STREET.

And all with a Queensland connection. :)
