I bet this is not the only one either. At least you've found details which is more than I have with one of my relatives...............fascinating this geneology game? By the way, in the 70's I played rugby at Westcombe Park but the social style only.

Nice one Leefer, but you should be writing comedy for the TV, they haven't got a clue. By the way, the M2 didn't exist when we travelled to Maidstone etc etc and Trumans was still a beer!!!

Hi Gents, I do have to confess that all our away games in Kent resulted in a scenic trip back to Orpington, one place I have fond memories of is a pub in Longfield, it certainly was not on the main road, but had a real warm welcome with an open-hearth fire. Memories memories, wonderful!!!!

Scenic, Orpington? Have you seen the High Street lately? Giant Tesco on the corner of Station Rd and a lot of the other shops shut.
There are some nice villages around for a drink (Which I seldom get to visit). 4 in Shoreham, 3 in Farningham (but only one decent one) and a few in Otford etc. None as interesting as The Grapes in London NW1 when I was a child standing outside, wondering which of the adults coming out would be the most inebriated! :2fun: >:D
My paternal grandfather drove a Dray for a brewery in London, but I have not have not found out which. He also drove for Carter Patterson , but Pickfords, who took them over, have not replied to letters. :2fun:

1977 was the last time I was in Orpington, but and the club was not playing on their current ground then. In the mid 70's we also held a function in Chislehurst Caves 3 years on the trot - thanks for these memories, but I've now got the urge to make a pilgrimage back to the club, hope I win the lottery.

The name in the original post seems unlucky but the name is not jinxed. To me there is no such thing as a jinx. Bad things happen at any time. I dont believe in the paranormal.
