Death 19849/1963 JOHNSTON DAVID LESLIE - WILLIAM JOHN - ELEANOR - BALMAIN

The Sydney Morning Herald - Saturday 20 July 1963 p.72
DEATHS
JOHNSTON, David Leslie.-July 18, 1963, of 52 Glebe Street, Glebe, dearly loved husband of Vera, loved father of Veronica, David and Leslie and fond brother of Eleanor and William, aged 56 years.

This would seem to be the marriage although a bit late:

18982/1948 JOHNSTON DAVID LESLIE - NICHOLS VERA - GLEBE ** 24 July

There are several possible births so is this the right one?

38000/1904 NICHOLS VERA M - CHARLES T - ESME I - WATERLOO ** 7 Oct

Can Vera be found in E/R?

Can a death be found?

Anything ? :)

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Geoff.

All I really have is the death notice for David with spouse listed as Vera.

If it's the right birth for Vera then either a very late marriage or 2nd marriage for one or both of them.

I also, for some reason, had Vera's middle name as May.

So a Vera May and a Vera Maud.

Several other births for Vera NICHOLLS but none with middle initial M. No sign of another birth up to 1913 for a Vera M. So either a middle initial missing or in error for the second one born NSW before 1909 or one born outside NSW.

I don't know where we are Geoff.

A box maker in Chatswood in 1963 and a death in Balmain in 1963. ?

If that is a son in 1968 then Mervyn can't be David junior's son.

Marriages:

22118/1959 JOHNSON DAVID LESLIE - DOYLE JOYCE EILEEN - SYDNEY

25339/1963 JOHNSTON DAVID LESLIE - ALLEN NANCY MAY - SYDNEY

I have several in my tree with and without the 't' or the 'e' on the end you have to consider all.

I've got the right death and the right siblings:

The Sydney Morning Herald - Saturday 20 July 1963 p.72
DEATHS
JOHNSTON, David Leslie.-July 18, 1963, of 52 Glebe Street, Glebe, dearly loved husband of Vera, loved father of Veronica, David and Leslie and fond brother of Eleanor and William, aged 56 years.

We might have to rely on tracing the children.
