I can't see a marriage for William in Scotland or England.

Closest I can see for a marriage is

William Vernon married Mary Ann Maguire Mar 1848 Bath 11 49

Looks like it was a Register Office ceremony.

In the 1851 Census Emma Booth is down as William's sister in law and therefore, one would presume, Mary Ann's sister.

Baptism for Emma Booth gives her parents as Benjamin Booth, Innkeeper, and Margaret.

Benjamin Booth married in Glastonbury 19 August 1821 to a widow named Margaret Maguire.

Benjamin died 1832 and in the 1841 Census Margaret Booth is an Innkeeper in Glastonbury with daughters M Maguire and Emma Maguire (this is obviously copied from the line above and should read Booth)

There is a Consular marriage in Funchal in 1810 for a Bernard Maguire but no partner given. There is also a Consular Marriage in Funchal in 1810 for a Margaret Sturridge again no partner given. Bernard Maguire died in Wells, Somerset in 1817 and the Executor named in the Death Duty index was Margaret Maguire so, taking a big leap of faith I am guessing that Bernard Maguire married Margaret Sturridge in Funchal 1810 and that they were therefore the parents of Mary Ann Maguire, born Funchal, Madeira who married William Vernon in 1848. Unfortunately I cannot find a birth/baptism for Mary Ann.

John Vernon and Euphemia “Effie” Conchie were my 4*Great Grandparents - they had at least 10 children according to my research with one set of twins. The oldest daughter was Janet (my ancestor) and she married William Graham. Janet worked as a Midwife and died in Dornock in 1860.
The Vernon family left Kirkmabreck to live in Dorset, where they were Tea Dealers - before joining the Menzies, Barling, Saddington families who all left for Australia in the 1850s.
Happy to share info …..
