Talk about a needle in a haystack| I am hoping to trace the Walsh family who emegrated to Australia on the assisted passage scheme in the mid sixties. The family consisted of John, my uncle, his wife Lilly (Lillian?) and son Vincent. I have no idea where they settled or indeed even if they stayed. I would be very grateful for any assistance. Thank you

Once at the above screen you can logon as a Guest and then conduct a
search - type in Vincent Walsh in the keywords and 1964 in the date.

Once the record is shown, click on the highlighted symbol and this will take
you to a screen where you are able to order online , you may have to scroll
down a little to see the "request copy" button. This item has an access
status (see above) of not yet examined - when you press "request copy" it
will take you to a screen which advised that a copy is not yet available
however it gives you an option to fill in a form "application for
access" - if you complete and lodge they will examine the record and if
there are no "sensitivities" they may provide you with a copy.

Hi Vince,

Due to privacy reasons they tend not to provide access to shipping or immigration records after 1960. Perhaps you could try the census records although I would imagine the same would apply as they only release access to certain years.
Another thought might be to place a " where are you" notice in one of the national papers such as the Sydney Morning Herald or Australian with a contact number? Knowing which state might also be a help as Australia is a vast country!!

Good luck and hope this helps a little.

regards

Bronhill
