I have a page out of a wage book for a colliery where my great grandfather worked. It is for May 1938 and has my gt grandfather on the page. It states how many days they worked and the amounts that were deducted out of their pays for health insurance, unemployment insurance and some have deductions for electric light and rent and then it has the balance they took home. Interesting reading when i think that my great grandparents raised 9 kids and 1 grandson on this amount.

The page i have is dated for the week ending 28 May 1938 and there is a list of 34 names on the page so if anyone had a relative who worked at the Langwith Colliery for the above date i will have a look and see if they are on the page i have.

Hi Gibbo
Very interested in your offer to search the wage book page. Does it have the name Fred Self on it? He was my maternal grandfather and worked at Langwith from 1928 - 58/59. I have vivid memories of Langwith c. 1954-90.

Hi Toll

I had a look on the page and i couldnt see the name anywhere, if you would like a copy let me know, there maybe someone else you know on there. It seems strange to think that your grandfather may have known my great grandfather!! I dont know how to attach things on here so if you want a copy private message me and we can sort out a way to get one to you. I noticed you didnt have private message on your profile.

Hi Lee

TV is good for a lot of things, tho it hasn't helped a brother-in-law, he has 13 kids from 2 marraiges. Maybe someone should have bought him one for a wedding present!
