Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. I didn't have the 2nd marriage. At the moment I'm trying to trace Elizabeth HOGGARD. I have no birth and 3 possible deaths for her. It's probably one of the two St Peters ones.

First of 7 children:

Rose Ethel WAINWRIGHT b. 1891 Glebe d. 1964 Burwood

Please see what you can find. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

So we have Elizabeth HOGGARD born abt 1852 and her father had died before she married in 1870.

I still can't find her. Little wonder with no parents known. :D

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

George Pearce WAINWRIGHT b. 1855 NSW d. 1920 St Peters

married 1870 Newtown

Elizabeth HOGGARD b. abt 1852 d. 1908 Newtown

A more common spelling is HOGGARTH. I noticed her on AVRI but no mention of place of birth.

The John P. in NSW according to entries in SMH is John Pearson. I think the above Pearce is an error because he is a descendant of Elizabeth PEERS but perhaps John Pearson is not related. Not all the WAINWRIGHTs come from Lancashire and it's a more common name than I realised.

Please see what you can find. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Births Mar 1852
HOGGARD Elizabeth Southwell 7b 257

Marriages Jun 1851
Hoggard William Breedon Southwell 15 985
Short Rebecca Southwell 15 985

Elizabeth's father's death:

Deaths Sep 1852
HOGGARD William Bredon St Geo. Han. Sq 1a 144

I've looked for the various spellings of the name and can't find Rebecca and Elizabeth. I've checked assisted and unassisted Qld., NSW, Vic. and Mariners. I wonder if they were still in Nottinghamshire or London in 1861.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Friday 30 December 1870 p.7
MARRIAGES
WAINWRIGHT-HOGGARD-December 27, by the Rev. George Sheppard, George Pearce, youngest son of Mr. Jordan Wainwright, of George-street South, to Elizabeth, only daughter of Mrs. Hoggard, of Newtown.

Hi Dave

Haven't found Elizabeth & Rebecca in 1861 or shipping records.

Looks like they were in Australia by 1865, unusual to find a female listed on any index before 1900.

• Sydney Directory 1865 (Sands)
Hoggard, Mrs. Rebecca, fruiterer, Newtown

Hello crankypants,

Thanks. Oh well. I'm really surprised how many we can't find. :D I tried HOGGARD, HOGGART & HOGGARTH.

I found one tree with William and his parents and date of marriage but nothing apart from her name, Rebecca SHORT.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

Susannah SANDS b. 1875 Sydney d. 1938 ?

married 1894 Glebe

John MORGAN b. ? d. ?

Index E/R 1930 & 1936 Cook

I'm not sure if this is the correct death:

Death # 4233/1938 MORGAN SUSAN WILLIAM SUSAN NEWTOWN

The Sydney Morning Herald - Monday 3 January 1938 p.5
FUNERALS
MORGAN -The Relatives and Friends of Mr. WILLIAM MORGAN (Railway Department), Mr. and Mrs. DAVID MORGAN, Mr. and Mrs. PETER MORGAN, Mr. and Mrs. ANDREW MORGAN (Glen Innes), Mr. and Mrs. ARTHUR MORGAN, Mrs. ELIZABETH HANSON, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. PLUMB, Mr and Mrs. ALF HEATH and Miss JEAN MORGAN and their FAMILIES are invited to attend the Funeral of their beloved MOTHER and GRAND MOTHER Susan, to leave the residence 76 Edgeware Road, Enmore THIS DAY at 9 45 a. m. for the Presbyterian Cemetery Woronora.

None of the names fit with the known children I have in my tree. But, if the address fits the address in the E/R then I'll ignore it says Susan and not Susannah. I have nothing on John. I looked for other MORGAN marriages to a Susan to see if they fitted the funeral notice better.

Please see what you can find. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

I looked for the death of John MORGAN between 1936 and 1943. There are 31 but some outside Sydney can be eliminated as can a few with John as middle name but it still leaves too many. I'll search NLA.

I was right. That 1938 death is not my Susannah.

Regards,

Dave
