Hello crankypants,

I'll do the few PENFOLD queries here with the WALKER ones since there is a connection by marriage. And a connection by marriage to a FURNER.

Elizabeth M PENFOLD b. 1858 d. ?

married 27 Mar 1888 Burwood

Samuel Walter HODGE b. Sep Q 1857 Exeter, Devon d. 1907 Chatswood

Please see if you can find anything on either of them.

Thanks.

Dave

Hi Dave

No luck finding them in 1903, searched Parkes & North Sydney Division.

1894-1895 N.S.W Sands Directory
HODGE S.W, Liverpool road, Strathfield

If Elizabeth is still living in 1930 might have to track her through any children they of had, did she remarry?

cheers

Hello crankypants,

Thanks for looking. I can't see a 2nd marriage.

Two children:

9172/1890 HODGE LILIAN G SAMUEL W ELIZABETH M BURWOOD
9670/1893 HODGE HERBERT W SAMUEL W ELIZABETH M BURWOOD

I can't find a marriage or a death for either of them.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Yes, I have an error in my tree.

One of the SANDS bought 26 Albert Ave in 1946 and the house was in Alice's name. And the reason for selling was that Frank and Alice wanted to move to Waverton to be closer to their son and his three daughters. So, it's not Frank Hardiman who died in 1935. It must be this one then:

16501/1948 WALKER FRANK JOSHUA RUTH ANNA NORTH SYDNEY

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Alice Gwyneth PENFOLD b. 1904 d. 1996

married 1932 North Sydney

Robert N ? CHAPMAN b. ? d. ?

Please see what you can find. The 'N' middle initial may be wrong. It may be H= Hungerford.

Try ER 1936 Parramatta for Alice.

Thanks.

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. No, really, it's coincidence that we have another bank officer. :D

Ian S PENFOLD b. 1909 Roseville married Lillian?

and sibling

Frederick Harold b. 1894 Ashfield d. ? married Margery

Both were living in Texas, Qld.

Enlisted Texas, Qld. 24 May 1942 - S/N Q226820 - NOK Penfold Margery living at Linton, Qld. - Discharged 9 Jun 1944

Being Queensland there is probably not much that can be found especially if they died after 1964 they won't be on the death fiche.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. That's actually a bit more than I expected you'd find. Yes, Texas is very close to the border just in Qld.

Edith Jane is Frank's spouse.

It says Margery living at Linton so perhaps a 2nd marriage.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

No sign of marriages in Qld. It looks from the ER that Frederick married between 1930 and 1936.

I think that's all we can do with this one.

Thanks.

Dave

Hi Guys

Your research has been good. I am the great grandson of Frances Sidney Walker married Elsie Furner and he had three children, all girls. There was Sheila who married Rolin Wyatt, Marjorie Walker, who never married and a Elsie-Beth Walker who married a George Clewett. All the males are deceased but the women are still alive.

Regards

John Clewett

Hello John,

Thanks for your reply. Please send me a private message. I think you will understand why I'm asking about the WALKER family when I say my grandmother is Rita Constance FURNER.

Regards,

Dave

Hello John,

I think you will understand why I'm asking about the WALKER family when I say my grandmother is Rita Constance FURNER.
Rita's sister Elsie married Sid. Rita lived at 321 Mowbray Rd (Fred & Mary FURNER lived at 301) and I grew up in the house in Chatswood that was owned by Sid's parents, the title being in Alice's name.

1936 N.S.W Electoral Roll – North Sydney – Chatswood
WALKER Alice Susan, 26 Albert avenue, Chatswood home duties
WALKER Frank, 26 Albert avenue, Chatswood, commercial traveller

I have some questions about Frank you may be able to answer.

Regards,

Dave
