This is not my Wally moment, and I'm not sure it's a Wally really. But I was part of it.

Just before my trip to England, a friend of mine asked me to post a letter in England.......which I thought was strange.
He then told me he had to have it posted in England, as the envelope needed to contain a stamped addresed envelope.
The returning envelope was required to hold a catalogue of Country & Western music, which had been recorded from Vinyl on to CD. So an English stamp was required to do that, as they're not sold in Ireland.

Anyway, my friend the produced an A3 padded envelope, and the returning envelope was also an A4 padded affair. All addressed correctly, but both requiring stamps........which was where I came in.

I asked him how big was the catalogue, and how much it might weigh. He had no idea to either question. I then informed him, that these envelopes would be treated as PARCELS, not LETTERS, and the postage would be horrendous.

Two days after my arrival in England, I went to the post office to get some stamps for both of the envelopes. I got £6.30's worth, which I though would cover it. So I stuck on the stamps and handed it back to the cashier, who then weighed it.......'That will be another 83p please'.

'YIKES'.....!!!, I thought........I now wondered if I'd put enough stamps on the returning envelope......which was returning via Airmail. I posted it, and took the chance.;)
By the time I got back to England, the 'returnee' letter had been recieved by my friend......and inside the padded envelope was one A4 page.:2fun::2fun::2fun:

I guess I had put enough stamps on it then.......but the upshot was......My friend had all the CD's listed.:eek::2fun::2fun:

I will never get to the bottom of .....'Why padded envelopes'. The daft old duffer.
I'll ask him if he wants to move in here, because he sure is a candidate for the Wally corner.:rolleyes::2fun:

Steve.:)

I keep having a 'wally moment' which is so stupid. I live in a block of flats and have to hold a fob against a key pad to gain entry through the main door. The number of times I have held that fob against the lift button and then wondered why the lift hasn't arrived - doh!!

My name should be "Wally", I sit here and am in awe of all the talent you wonderful people have and I am still struggling with many basic tasks. So whilst you may have 'wally' moments, I have a 'wally' life...........without any compensation I may well add? :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Peter

I have just remembered I had a Wally moment yesterday:oops:
I got a new ssd drive and caddy to use in place of my defunct backup drive which is now deceased:censored:
So plugged it all in and nothing showing on PC after much head scratching I was beginning to think I had a duff drive - but no it was me that was duff - for it to show it has to be formatted - what a plonker!
So much for 40 years in the computer world!:oops:

There's still a place, and plenty of room in the Wally corner. :ROFLMAO:

Hope the move went well, and I see that you're 'connected'.(y)

Only connected cause we staying at Anthony's so hooked to his internet, hopefully should have our own place next week then could be off line for a little bit or i might get a pre paid thingy.
The move did go well thanks.

I had a Wally.......Bought a mini, rechargeable vacuum cleaner for my car.
When the parcel arrived this morning, there were 2 in the box. 'Whooo Hooo'......I thought, ......'I got a freebie'. (y)
Then I checked the invoice........I'd ordered 2 in error.:eek::eek::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Good job they were cheap.:rolleyes::LOL:

It would cost me more to send it back.:whistle:
