hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me trace William Patrick Walsh, who I am given to understand was born in Kilgarvin (Kilgarven) County Mayo in approx 1855, so at the time of this census he would have been approx 5 years old. Thanks in anticipation for your help
best wishes
Pat

Hi Patrick,

As far a I know there are no surving census for Ireland before 1901. So it will be down to parish records. There is the Irish Family History Foundation who have the largest collection of parish records which are searchable online. The search is free but to view there is a fee of 5 euros per record. I did look for William but there were very few for county Mayo and none seemed to match.

thanks very much for your efforts anyway julie, I do appreciate your time and trouble. This was information passed on to me by long lost relatives in australia, and I was hoping to be able to add to their knowledge as well as my own. Thanks again , best wishes
Pat
