Hi everyone, my name is Jo and I have been doing my family history for almost 20 years now and could very well be considered obsessed! Thankfully I have an understanding husband!
Most of my ancestors are East Enders London; mainly from Shoreditch, Limehouse and Rotherhithe. There is one lot from Chelsea also. Names include Branton, Walker, Hubert, Bearryman, Daniels. I have hit a few wins and a few walls over the years but still have the passion to persist! I have a few questions for some experts and hope to find some answers here. I am even making my first ever trip to the UK this November to get access to more detailed records (workload etc not available on line).
So that's me!
Cheers for now!

Hello Jo,

welcome to FHUK.

Please have a look around the forums and then post your queries in the most appropriate ones and someone will try to answer them.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Jo
and a warm sunny welcome to you. We have had some glorious weather for the last month here in Leeds UK. Badly need some rain for the gardens thought. Strange this thing called weather. Whilst we have not seen rain for a month, 30 miles down the road they have had torential rain and floods.

Hope you get the attachment problem sorted. My paper clip works fine
If you still have problems let us know so we can let the computer boffins have a look. I have just had a thought that it may be the attachment feature is not open to you until you have made three posts. If this is the case, I see your name has changed to green, so it may be worth having another go.

Welcome Jo.....all the best with your research.

Take no notice of Dave(above post)...most of us want the rain to stay away, just our green fingered friends who want some of the wet stuff:biggrin:

All the best,Lee.

Hi guys! Thanks for the warm welcome! You don't get more varied in weather than here in Aus! Floods and cyclones in Queensland, out of control fires I. Western Australia and gorgeous weather in south Australia all at the same time!! Ha ha!
Anyway, it seems that this site has a few glitches with iPad users so if any of my posts seem a little distorted it could be that. Or it could be that I have enjoyed a little too enthusiastically a bottle of wine.
As I said in one if my posts (in the certificates forum I think) I have some real problematic ancestors that have gone to great pains to not let me find them, and others whom I have a deep connection to. Has anyone else had the sense of a real connection to someone in their tree? Maybe I am just a little weird? I have gone to extreme lengths to find some people in my tree from placing a Guinness next to the screen to evoke my grandmother, to spending what seems like thousands of hours trawling throughbon line records, to now spending a few thousand dollars and abandoning my children with my mum for two weeks to travel to London to spend as much time in LMA as possible.

Welcome Jo, from one South Aussie to another,
they're a great bunch on this forum.
You will soon find your way around as I did.
Joan:)
