Waterloo Veteran: My 3xg grandfather William Weston b. 1790 in Prees, Shropshire,
joined the 1St Battalion Rifle Brigade in 1809 – 1828. The Royal Hospital Chelsea: Soldiers
Service Documents, 1760-1854, tell that he was discharged aged 38 due to a ‘fractured
right fibula and worn out’ in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He had served in the Peninsula and at
Waterloo with the Duke of Wellington. I understand he would have been awarded a
Waterloo medal? I would like to find out the battles etc. he took part in the Peninsula
Wars and any other information relevant to his service in the Rifle Brigade. If there is anyone
with such expertise perhaps you could point me in the right direction where I might search?
