I have found a baptism for a son of Isiah and Anne Watts in Banbury in 1743 but no Christian name is given Any chance anyone can find it?

Isiah Watts married Anne Sheasby in Banbury in 1731 can anyone find their births/baptisms please.

Many thanks

I accessed the image of the register on Anc for the daughter Mary who was bapt 1745 and worked back through the register to Oct 1743. The child's name was Job, all beautifully written and no problem in reading it.

I also noted that some entries have what I assume is the name of a hamlet/village in the margin (Calthop, Neithop, Wickham, Grimsbury for instance) This Watts family have Neithrop against their entries. Also when Isaiah's trade is given he is a labourer.

Many thanks Elaine. The fact that his name was Job means I can forget about that family. I'm actually looking for a Percy Watts. I have his Will which is on fmp but I cannot find anything else about him, no birth, marriage or children's births. His Will mentions his daughter Elizabeth, using her married name of Reeve, it also mentions her children so I know I have the right Will, I just can't find anything about the family and I don't subscribe to Anc.

I looked at his will and then looked at the Oxfordshire records on Anc but didn't get much:-

Witney St Mary's
Percy Watts of Haily bur 28 March 1719, received a certificate April 2nd 1719
Widow Watts of Haily bur 15 March 1720
A child of Piercy Wats bur 14 May 1701, Hayly

I couldn't find any other records of his family. Sorry! Possibly the family were dissenters.

I must have been offline when this was posted.:(

Ann Sheasby, her parents maybe William Shearsy & Mary Bannister. They married 11 April 1697 @ Mollington, Oxon.
I think this is a Sheasby marriage, transcribed from chicken scratch.

Mollington, about 3 miles North of Banbury.

There is a Shearsby marriage in 1832 @ Mollington, and 5 Sheasby marriages, all out of the time frame.

IF Ann Sheasby was from Mollington, could Percy Watts have been born there.

If's and maybe's....but no buts.:2fun:

Marriage taken from The OxfordshireFHS Marriage Index - 1538-1837.

Have you asked OxFHS for a baptism search....it's very cheap.;)
