Hi

I may have found a baptism of an ancestor Susannah Watty. She died in 1836 aged 56 as Susannah Bradford. She married in October 1798 in Southchurch to Matthew Bradford who died in 1849 but in 1841 was not born in county. They both died in Southchurch.

Watty is not to common a surname but most Watty families came from the Colchester area of Essex. I found a Susannah Wattey baptism in 1779 at St James Colchester, Essex. While I have not yet confirmed it, it does seem likely. 30 miles away from Southchurch but her future hubby originated further away in Cambs or Suffolk so quite likely.

I think somewhere I have the notes of the 1798 marriage so I need to fish it out and see if I named the witnesses.

Ben
