I think this was the worst series so far, but with some good subjects. But generally not the best to be released.:(

Ann Reid got right up my nostrils.

Some of the subjects, I switched off from, even though I watched them through.

Oh well, hope it's better next time.

Now most of the "celebs" are people I have only heard of vaguely, such as newscaster or has been actors. Also they make it seem so easy, they have a team of people working across the world, something us would have to pay £1000s for.

Let me go on Big Brother, then I become an instant celeb lol.

I was very interested in Derek Jacobi's WDYTYR, he has a similar back ground to mine, except he's ancestor was very well connected. I learned more than I already knew with that episode :)

The Anita Rani episode was heartbreaking, terrifying in fact.

But in general, the field of relatives lives of the participants is so narrow, often focusing on just one relative, who they hope has common thread, ie. were they actors, were they bakers, singers or royalty way back.
I can think of many more occupations that would be just as fascinating and varied, rather than trying to find just one individuals life, and/or common occupation.

I know time is limited in these programs, but they could edit out the train, plane and automobile rides etc. and add another relative or two.

Hopefully, we may have some 'commoners' in the next series.......hopefully.

I'm sure we all have a relatives life that could be made into a film, or a series on their own. Or just one episode of WDYTYA.:)

Being a 100% cynic, I feel these stories are engineered and IMHO they scrape the barrel for so-called celebrities who may. just may have ONE ancestor that is of interest.
One of the best I saw was Jason Donovan, and that was only because my wife taped it.
However as someone that did not have a TV in their house as a child, and would not have one if I was on my own, perhaps I'm biased!

I would suggest there aren't very many people that have one or even two ancestors in their tree that would be of that much interest to make a program from it. You can't do much in an hour :)
