Hi All,

We are looking to re-design the website shortly and would like to ask our fellow members what in particular they would like to see (or not - if that is the case!).

Please let us know your thoughts - good or bad, and we will see what we can do!

Please respond by replying to this message thread,

Thanks again,
Dave

Yep thats a good idea - especially as we have:
Genealogy FAQ

New to Family History

Maybe that section is not clear enough - so we will look to expand this and make it more prominent.

We did have a section on Record Keeping - but it got mislaid unfortunately. We will see if we can add that somewhere.

Thanks Peta
Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I would suggest that the:
Genealogy FAQ
New to Family History
Is highlighted or shown better in the menu possibly!

I know most people in this genealogy game are looking for names - and when they do not find their particular name they move on! But we all know it is not just about collecting names:
We need to build a good community here (like this forum! - to keep people coming back!) - helping anyone and everyone. :)
We need to give them information on how, what and where - such as links to sites of interest (I know there is a lot of links here and that there is a Genealogy Directory but again not many people are adding links to their sites or favourite sites! (maybe people are lazy ::) )
The Wanted Names is great, I regularly check and have found a few contacts - thanks :)

I like coming back here to this site as most other sites are sell, sell, cost, cost, money, money

Sorry, just my "two peneth" (thoughts) on the site.
Cheers

Thanks izabel and dawnlea,

Funny thing was I accidently deleted the some of the forum files . I then quickly uploaded the newest version of the forum. I then added the old theme, which because the forum is a newer version the theme broke the site!
So I quickly uploaded a bog standard one then came up with this. I still have a lot of things to change - some images etc..

After your comments I may keep this one! Maybe I will put it to a vote/poll?

Thanks again,
Dave

:)Looking good Dave.
Nice & fresh. Don't know about the scroll bars on my picture. Maybe will have to deflate myself and choose another picture :2fun:
The embarassed icon is missing from my screen. But that might be me not you.
Looking forward to seeing it after you have finished tweaking things.

Hi ya Peta,

Hopefully the embarrased  icon has now been fixed for you :)

Your avatar (or should I say what is supplied) was too big for the section, so I gave been resizing some of them.

though I do see that you have changed yours and uploaded your own :)
Very nice,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Embarrased icon fine now. My new avatar is one of the ones supplied. Don't you just love the windswept look. :2fun: It would take me a month of sundays to look like that even if I was young enough. ::) When I work out how to import a photo from my camera program I might get one of the real me on here ;D

Cheers Peta

Quite like the new look Dave. The Blue seems less hard on the eyes somehow. :) I noticed the home button takes you back to the Forum home page. Is there a link to the Family History Home page. The one that you log in on. Other than pressing the back button? Couldn't see one.

I am not sure if we can already do this or if it is just me, but I want to be able to insert like a picture, I will give you an example, I was looking up a census but the typed portion and the hand written were actually different from what I was seeing, I can at home print the hand written and then scan it but what I can't seem to do is paste it here,:'( but if of course if you do that you would then also need to be able to enlarge it so you can see what is actually written.:D
