Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. That's filled a few gaps in my tree. I will enter that into my database tomorrow and see where I go next with this family.

I have the MI from a tombstone in Temple parish for this family with 9 family members on it but the transcription is full of errors. I need to find a way of finding the right dates /ages at death.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

I have sorted out the MI and I have some of the deaths now. Joseph WEST died on 5 Dec 1898 St Andrew, Midlothian. His spouse Margaret died on 16 Dec 1926 at Canongate. The first Margaret died on 22 Jan 1875 at Stobhill. They named the second one Margaret S (Maggie S).

Please see if you can find Margaret and any of her children in 1901. All the children may have gone by then. I wonder if she reverts to her maiden name SHEDDEN (SHEDDON)?

Thanks.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

In 1891 the family was living in a Clayhouse Cottage which is in Gorebridge, a village in Borthwick parish..

Loanhead is a village in Lasswade parish.

Now another branch of the family:

Please see if you can find Grace (nee WEST) b. 1842 Temple parish and spouse William WALKER born abt 1821 in Edinburgh in 1881 and 1891. Thanks.

They married in 1880 at St Andrew Edinburgh, Midlothian.
They probably didn't have any children.

Grace died on 5 Jul 1896 Stobhill and William on 2 Nov 1895 ? aged 75 ? Edinburgh Infirmary?

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you. That's them. They married in St Andrew RD too. In the 1841 census Grace's parents were living in the upper part of Gorebridge which is in Temple parish. The lower part is in Borthwick parish.

Now... who is next?

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. That's one I didn't have. Could the bit you can't read be Kilsaran, Co Louth ?

I have this possible one:
James McKENNA b. 6 APR 1871 , Louth, Ireland
Parents Robert & Sarah KELLY

Dave

Hi dave

I enlarged the article and the 5th line ends with Killin -
the 6th line starts with ...., country Louth

There is a KILLIN in Louth
The word on 6th line is too faded to read, looks like four letters
cheers
