Dear Family History UK
Our ancestors Horace Courtenay (who was illegitimate) and Violet Gezard (Jezard) stayed at the Westcliff College For Girls, 78 Hamlet Court Road, Prittlewell, Southend in the 1901 census.
The college was run by the Shepherd family headed by Agnes Shepherd.
After contacting Southend Museum and Essex County Records the records for the school have not been deposited with any official institutions and likely to be with the family if kept at all. Please does the Shepherd family have the records for Westcliff College For Girls so we can see who was paying for the boarding school fees for these children. Thank you.
It was also extremely unusual for a boy to go a girls boarding school, do you know why Horace would have been sent to the school.
Thank you for your help.
