My great, great grandmother Kate Coombs gave birth to her daughter Minnie Coombs on the 25th October 1896 in Copenhagen Street, Islington, London. Minnie was a sickly baby and died of convulsions and congestion of the lungs on the 11th November 1896 at 17 days old.

Exactly 10 years earlier (bar 3 days out) Kate Coombs mother Mary Ann Roberts died at 25 Evelyn Buildings, Holborn, London on the 14th November 1886 aged 46.

So, November 1886 and November 1896 were painful months for Kate Coombs. On the 14th November 1896, the exact 10th anniversary of her mums death, Kate was also grieving the loss of her baby daughter who died 3 days earlier. November 1896 was indeed a very dark month indeed for Kate Coombs, my great, great grandmother for those two reasons.
