I was not sure which section to post this?
William Joslin Born, 1807, Boxford, Suffolk. Died 1895 Semner, Suffolk, was convicted of stealing four combs of Malt in 1840 and sentenced to7yrs transportation, which he appearers to have served on a prison hulk at Woolwich.
But what is a coomb of malt and what in today's value would 4 combs be worth please?
