Hi and welcome to the FHUK forums,

I am just v=breaking into a new area, and wondered what advice there is out there for finding Irish genealogical records?[/QUOTE]
is the research pertaining to north or southern Ireland?
if its southern ireland there are a few sites you can try,
www.groireland.ie/research.
www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history/family_history...research/family_history_research_in_the_republic_of_ireland.
www.discoverireland.ie
home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/Catholic-Ireland.htm
www.brsgenealogy.com/
*TIPPERARY FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH Tipperary, Ireland ...
indigo.ie/~gorry/Centres.
www.eneclann.ie/Research/genealogy_research_guide.
these are just a few sites you can use for southern ireland
some are free to view and some are pay perview
for northern ireland
www.EmeraldAncestors.com
www.ulsterancestry.com/
www.proni.gov.uk/
www.groireland.ie/research.
genealogy.about.com/od/ireland/Ireland
www.browseireland.com/Genealogy/Research
www.irish-roots.ie/ifhf-history.
www.gov.ie/essays/genealogy.

again some are pay sites others are partially free,
hopefully this will get you started :)
if you want help from us, just post your questions with as much information as you have on the appropriate forum and our friendly members will try their best to help you in any way they can.
We at FHUK wish you every success in your research and hope you enjoy using the FHUK forums.
