Hi

I have a William Durrant b. Burwell, Cambs. c1779. Parents = William Durrant and Alice, nee Wells.

There are 2x births - 25 Dec 1778 William s/o William & Alice and 24 March 1780, same parents.

I can't see a death/burial 1778-1780.

William married 1800 and there is no indication he was a minor [or I have overlooked it].

Any ideas appreciated.

Many thanks
Geoff

I can only find one marriage for a William Durrant (widower) to an Alice Wells in 1776 in Burwell, so it's likely there was only one couple having children. As they surely wouldn't call two sons William (would they?) then I think it's reasonable to assume that the first William died, even though I can't see a burial.

It is possible that, even though the William born 1780 was only 20 when he married in 1800 and therefore under age, if his parents gave permission the Vicar might not have bothered mentioning the fact.

Thanks, Em'...

A well-reasoned argument; would have been nice to find a death/burial. Given only one William & Alice, I can live with that.
