Spouse is John William WICKENS and he is not with the family in 1871, 1881 or 1891 census.

They all end up in Australia but so far I can't find their separate ? arrivals. ???

Emma married in NSW in 1900.

Albert married in NSW on 23 Aug 1905. His mother Elizabeth Jane died in NSW 23 Jun 1902.

Apart from his death in NSW in 1926 I have nothing on John William to indicate when he arrived.

Regards,

Dave

If this is the right family in 1881

Elizabeth Wickens 41
John Wickens 15
Emma Wickens 13
Rosina Wickens 11
Henry Wickens 9
Albert Wickens 6
Florence Wickens 2

John William couldnt have been that far away as Maud is in the 1891 census born about 1882.
Im figuring that John William come out here in the late 1880's  He was census shy thats for sure

Elizabeth had a terrible death in 1902. You seen the newspaper article?

Yes, and yes and maybe and yes. ;)

Yes that's the family and yes, I have no idea why he's not in the census. Ok, I have an idea why. His father was in the merchant marine so perhaps he was too.

Births Dec 1881
WICKENS Maud Louise Greenwich 1d 942

I have a few deaths from accidents, like falls from horse or accidentally hit on head with an axe or run over by a tram when drunk, two were injured in a boiler explosion, and I think only one by fire.

Ok, I'm back from lunch. :)

Oh, Emma. I didn't have her in my tree. I guess she arrived too. :D

1890 Mr & Mrs O J Wickens from Cooktown is not them.

The other 1890 cooking one has her as Mrs H Wickens. Does not fit either.

The review in 1891 has her as Mrs WICKEN.

1892 Mr & Mrs W H Wickens sailing for London.

2 wickens for 9 runs.

I'm up to end on 1899 and can't see them.

I see nothing until 1902.

Nowra fits so that must be Emma in 1900.

Thanks. The details don't add up.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 25 June 1902 p.8
SOUTH COAST.
Mrs. Wickens, wife of Mr. John Wickens, engineer, of Bomaderry, whilst engaged in domestic duties yesterday afternoon sustained severe burns about the body through her clothes catching fire. She succumbed to the effects of the injuries last evening.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Thursday 26 June 1902 p.11
SOUTH COAST.
The funeral of Mrs. Wickens, who died on Monday from the effects of buns accidentally received, was largely attended to-day.

One says died 23 and the other 24. One says buried 25 (the one just posted) and the other 26.

The details from the cemetery are probably correct.

She died on Monday, the article was written Tuesday, hence it saying yesterday when it was printed on the Wednesday.

Did you get Emma as well? She is in there.

28972/1947 KELLS EMMA ELIZABETH JOHN MARY NOWRA

I dont think this is your Emma neither........ I made a boo boo again i think. Mother should be Elizabeth and not Mary

Thanks, I think. :D I don't know if that's the right Emma or not.

No middle initial for Emma in any census.

Emma has a middle initial E in the marriage reg. So must be her and an error in the death reg.

But, Robert KELLS aged 83 in 1977 ??? Emma was born 1867.

OK, another Robert died in 1923. Sorted. Spouse died in 1923 - graves 29 & 30.

I found a birth for a Emma Wickens in NSW

8371/1874 WICKENS EMMA JOSEPH ROSE ANN BRAIDWOOD

Maybe the Kells marriage could be her  Parents on the death index dont match that neither tho

edited.. I found this

Emma E WICKENS was born in 1874 in Braidwood NSW Australia.
Spouse: Robert W KELLS. Robert W KELLS and Emma E WICKENS were married in 1900 in Nowra NSW Australia. Children were: Rosina Elizabeth KELLS

Death 18347/1923 KELLS ROBERT W - ROBERT - ELLEN - NOWRA

It's ok Presbyterian section graves 29 & 30.

That's a bit difficult with this birth:

Births Dec 1874
WICKENS Albert Frederick G Greenwich 1d 894

Can't see another marriage but found this death:

17329/1947 CARR EMMA - JOSEPH - ROSE ANN - CESSNOCK

7883/1891 CARR RALPH - WICKER EMMA - WALLSEND

I beginning to change my mind now  I think that is the right marriage and death for your Emma. I think that tree on the link is a boo boo:confused:

Found the birth for the Rosina that the link reckons is the child to Emma who was born in 1874.

24944/1901 KELLS ROSINA E ROBERT W EMMA E NOWRA

Your Emma had a sister named Rosina in the 1881 census and their mother's name was also Elizabeth. I think that marriage and death for Emma is right and this is her kid named after family.
