Hello,

William SYME b. 5 OCT 1861 Larbert, Stirling, Scotland

Father: ADAM SYME Mother: JANE HONEYMAN

Marriages Sep 1886
Gray Annie St Geo H Sq 1a 855
SYME William St. Geo. H. Sq. 1a 855

I find it a real pain trying to find anything in TNA.

This does not fit with the info from the census:

Folios 544-547. William Smith alias William Syme, born Ayrshire, Scotland.
Attestation papers to serve in the Royal Marines at Royal Marines 1883 (when aged 19).
Discharged 1883 as Claimed by Kings Own Borderers Regiment.

SYME Eathel, daur 1889 age 2 Ireland (looks like Rachel)

I've searched the Royal Hospital Chelsea and nothing.

Possible
Deaths Mar 1906
SYME William 46 Lanchester 10a 220

Deaths Mar 1941
Syme William 78 Surrey Mid. E. 2a 471

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

Ireland in 1889. Probably hard to find what regiment William was in from that bit of information.

What about his discharge papers?

I wonder if Fred is hiding in TNA?

Dave

Hello gortonboy,

Thank you very much for the details. A bit more than I expected actually.

I'll search for him in 1881 census.

Births Sep 1890
Syme William Henry St. Geo. H. Sq. 1a 414

EDIT: The image indeed has William Adam. I tried to post a correction including the URL to the image but it came up Error. I've never yet been able to post a correction and have always had to just add a Postem.

I will look at the image now and see if it says Henry or Adam. :)

Regards,

Dave

Hello gortonboy,

Thanks for the info.

They are not a direct line in my tree but there by marriage to a 2nd cousin, a descendant of Lt. Stephen PERDRIAU, RN. So I was looking for a bit of info. I won't chase his grandparents Adam & Jane.

You might be able to help me with a few others in my tree who were in the army in the 1800s.

Regards,

Dave
