Trying to find the parents of William Burns (Munro) born 1870 Wexford Ireland. I do not know how the Munro came into being. He died 1943 Toowoomba Queensland, Australia. Any information would be appreciated.

There is a birth reg on Familysearch for a William Byrne.

William Byrne
Birth
1870
Wexford, Ireland
Quarter and Year -1870
Reg Dist. Wexford
Volume 4

If you do a search, you will find several baptism records with various parents for the same year of 1870 and +/- 2 years, and same surname spelling.

Did he marry in Australia, and any idea of year arriving.

Certainly intriguing re Munro, would be interesting to find out why!

I wondered if it was anything to do with Albert's birth, but the father is omitted on the birth cert

I haven't seen William in 1903 yet.. Ethel may be just too young to appear in 1903..

I was wondering if you have had any success with finding out about the name change. William Burns (Munro)'s parents according to his marriage certificate are Mary Ann Hagan and John Burns. He married Ethel Mildred Smith in Toowoomba in 1904. She is my great grandmother and he may or may not be my great grandfather but this I can't prove as Albert Edward Munro (Smith on his birth certificate - listed as illegitimate) was my grandfather. Don't know where the Munro came from but my grandfather was in his 60s when he found out about his illegitimacy and then legally changed his name to Munro in 1964 (I have the paper work). Would love to have more info. Happy to give whatever I have.
