The year of his death he was living in Ararat. And died in Ararat.

The William in the notices in Trove published on 15 Oct was living in Ballarat.

In what cemetery is that memorial?

Three other deaths in 1908 for a William Cook.

If he was living in Ballarat then it's not him in Ararat roll.

I was going to say he is clearly in the Ararat roll in 1908 but the occupations don't agree.

The roll for 1908 for Ballarat for a William Cook, miner not blacksmith.

William Cook 1908 city, Ballarat, Victoria

Ballaarat, Ballaarat East and Ballaarat West.

If it's the right one then address in Trove notice is in Ballaarat East.

A problem with the Vic. index as it only has the year. Won't even let you manipulate the date to find the actual date of the event as NSW allows.

Qld. have decided people spend less time on the server if they provide the actual date so now they do.

I've only traced one of the children.

Birth 2876/1866 COOK Elizabeth - William - Elizabeth Ann TYZZER b. Spring Hill, Vic.

Thanks Geoff.

For some reason I had that 1908 Ararat roll but names now don't seem to fit.

It's not Elizabeth so the daughter in Ararat must be Lydia.
