Hi there,

Please could sks do a lookup in the 1871 census for:
William Cookson born 1838 Powerstock. He was listed as a Commander in the Royal Navy in the 1881 census and married to a Louisa from Germany. Not sure what year he was married.
His parents were George and Elizabeth.

Kind regards
Jackie

Hi,
Just a small point I may be able to help with, Hamoaze and stoke damerael are both areas of Plymouth in Devon, which I am sure you already knew, but Hamoaze is also or I should say was also the name of the home of the Admiral in charge of the Plymouth station during the French wars. It may be that this relation was on the admirals staff and actually lived in Hamoaze House. Hope this is at least of interest even if it is not of any help. Dont know about nowadays but up until the late seventies Hamoaze House was still used by the Navy as the headquarters building of Commando Forces
