Thanks, Dave.

Looks promising (mmn Baker) but I can find no William Atkins (mmn Baker).
In 1881 Alice seems to be living with her aunt (Elizabeth McKrill),.

Annie Alice, mother of Frank Read Wilkie previously Keys. Cannot find any Baker/Keys marriage.

Cannot explain "Mrs L"

This gets very confusing.

I found the military records for Frank Reid Wilkie. He states his mother was born Warwickshire, England. Must be 2 or more Annie Alice / Alice Annie.

On 2nd thought if he called Louise mum, it could be her that was born in Warwickshire??

If Mrs L. is a sister of William junior ...

Louise Caroline Higgs then is Louise's maiden name Atkins? So far don't have her birth or death.

If her maiden name is not Atkins then ... ?

Who did William Atkins senior marry and where and when ???

Possible marriage. Henry Joseph Higgs and Mary Ann Simmons appear on same page. Sep 1874 Wandsworth.

I cannot see how William Atkins fits into all this.

If sister is a Mrs L. Wilkie then it's a search for a William and a Louise that fit. And nothing seems to fit.

I didn't find a William Atkins in England in 1881 who was a tailor with a son William born abt 1874.

How can Mrs L. be the mother of Frank b. 1895. Alice died 1897 and Alfred remarried in 1899.

Army number on gravestone of William E Atkins matches number of William Atkins "brother" of Mrs L Wilkie.

Gravestone erected by "his wife and son". Bertha had son before marriage. William and Bertha childless.

William aged 45 when married in 1919 (b c 1874)
William Edward aged 59 at death in 1933 (b c 1874)

Mrs L Wilkie from Wright's Bush, Southland. Gravestone records William Edward from Wright's Bush.

Louisa Caroline Wilkie 1905-1906 Wairarapa Wellington; Manawatu-Wanganui; Hawke's Bay

Louisa Caroline Wilkie 1911 Hutt Wellington

Nothing after that.

Assuming the 1921 death and age at death are correct that would make Louise/Louisa much older than William. It would rule out the mmn Simmonds.

If it is just Louisa then this is a better fit and it rules out the 1899 marriage.

Louisa Wilkie 1911 Awarua Southland

Louisa Wilkie 1919 Awarua Southland

Nothing after that.
