I have Jane Townsend's death at 1809, so I don't think they would have had many children. I wonder what happened to Thomas afterward?? he could have remarried, but the next information I have is Thomas' jnr's marriage to Martha Hart in 1828.

Yes I have that, so we have them in Wiltshire in 1809, then Thomas jnr marries in 1828 in Bristol, so we have some missing years. Throwing up more questions, when did Thomas arrive in Gloucestershire??? as a child with his father?? or as an adult possibly looking for work??

I don't understand, if Jane was buried in Broad Hinton in 1809, Thomas must have been born there, so why isn't there a baptism for him??

I think if Thomas was b. Elcombe, that may be where the problem lies. It appears to have been swallowed up by Wroughton or Swindon this is a pic of Elcombe Hall HERE.

Broad Hinton looks to come under Marlborough RD now. No obvious sites with any parish records

It may be worth contacting the Wiltshire FHS or the OPC for advice.
