Hi,
Whilst searching for the birth of William Hill in the early 1700's I came across the following entry on the Familysearch site which states as follows
William Hill
Birth 31 Dec 1731
Chr 26 Jan 1732
Residence 1731 Great Budworth, Cheshire
Parents Richard Hill Sarah
I cannot find a birth or Baptism for the said William Hill in either the Cheshire Parish Registers, Cheshire Bishops Transcripts or the Nonconformist Register.
The entry on Familysearch implies that he was resident in Great Budworth in 1731, the year of his birth. There is also a similar entry for a Sarah Hill born to Richard and Sarah in 1732 resident in Great Budworth.
Can I take it that the family were living in Great Budworth but that the children were born/baptised elsewhere? I'm rather confused as to why the entries, under the umberella heading of England Births and Christenings only state Residence.
Can anyone explain it to me in words of one syllable please, or, better still, find William's birth/baptism record
Emeltee
