I've been trying to find this chappie without any success. No burial that matches in Bucks. No Census returns found.

Possibly transported for life.........!!

Name - William Ives
Date of Trial - Easter, 1833
Year 1833.
Trial - Buckinghamshire.
Sentence - Transportation for life, for sheep stealing.

Possible accomplice - Jacob Buckett. Same result and crime. ......... Also, Thomas PIzzey. Sheep Stealing. Aquiited.

No idea where he went, if he is my fella. Van Diemens land.??

There are 2 death indexes in NSW but neither have parents names so hard to confirm if one of them is yours.
They are around the right age.

IVES WILLIAM 3036/1871 AGE 70 YEARS DIED BOMBALA BOMBALA

IVES WILLIAM 4634/1872 AGE 74 YEARS DIED LIVERPOOL LIVERPOOL

There are two more convicts transported to NSW with the name William Ives.

No district for this one
IVES William Earl St Vincent 1820 085/5057 23 Mar 1826 Certificate of Freedom [4/4424; Reel 602]

This one in Windsor but that's not enough to say it's the one who died in Liverpool.

IVES William Lord Sidmouth 1819 33/233 Ticket of Leave [4/4088; Reel 919] District: Windsor; Born: Hertfordshire; Trade: Stone cutter; Tried: MGD

IVES, William Lord Sidmouth Age - 22; Sentence - Life; Condition - Bond. SMITH, Mary - Grenada 3 Age - 20; Sentence - 7 yrs; Condition - Bond. 5 Aug 1826 Revd J.J. Therry - Sydney NRS 12212 [4/4508; Fiche 780]

IVES, William Earl St Vincent Age: 44; Sentence: 7 years; Condition: Free; Widower SULLIVAN, Mary - Henry Wellesley (2) Age: 26; Sentence: 7 years; Condition: Bond; Widow STILES, Revd Henry - Windsor NRS 12212 [4/4510 p.066]; COD 13; Reel 713; Fiche 786-788

The fact that the 'Fairlie' William is not listed does not mean there is no Application to Marry. The list on NSW web site is incomplete.

Or he may have not needed permission or he didn't marry.

ToL in 1845 and ToL Passport (means allowed to move out of District) in 1846.

No marriage in NSW index 1845-1873 for a William Ives.

250/1836 V1836250 20 IVES WILLIAM - EDWARDS MARY - CE= CofE Richmond (near Windsor)

1817/1838 V18381817 22 IVES WILLIAM - SULLIVAN MARY - CE= CofE Richmond (near Windsor)

Can't explain that. A marriage two years earlier unless it's an error. If the code was wrong then CF = CofE Liverpool St. Luke.

I found a couple of newspaper reports concerning his sentence but they don't give any further info, just his name, stealing and transported.
Let me know if you want them Steve.

Well, shivver me timbers. Thanks you all.(y)

All I can say, he possibly was my man. :)........I'll pencil him, as nothing else seem to make sense.

In a way, Jason Buckett may have helped. I'll try and track him down, to see if he was from Buckinghamshire. Partners in crime.??

Thanks very much.
