Hello woodlander,

Thank you very much.

That death certificate was one of the few places where the father was identified as John and a stone mason. Now we have the 1861 and 1864 marriages that seem to indicate John died between those years. Being listed as a 'journeyman' it will take some searching in the census but I hope he can be found.

-------
Jessie BLACKLEY b. Mar Q 1862 Liverpool, Lancs d. aft 1901 and married

John LANG d. aft 1901 and they had 3 sons:

John
Archibald Blackley
James

Dave

Hello cp,

Catherine's marriage to William JACK can't be found. The only clue we have is a note on the marriage certificate relating to a divorce - it's either 8th something 1888 or 1898. So Catherine should be in 1881 as Catherine McNAUGHTON and 1901 probably as Catherine JACK.

EDIT: The other clue would be sister Sarah's death but that has not been found yet. Sarah married William JACK on 8 Aug 1861 and William has not been found in any census probably because the name is very common.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thanks.

Age and place of birth fit. The name Jessie would fit. It's in 4 or 5 generations of the family. Death in Renfrew in 1915 is a long way off so I'd not worry it's Lanark.

Worth me looking further. But Jessie is not John's daughter.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

No luck so far finding a birth record for John or Jessie.

William & Sarah had two daughters that I know of. I don't know if they had a son. Janet JACK died unmarried.

Isabella JACK b. 1862 Paisley, Renfrew.

Please see if you can find Isabella in census. Thanks. Isabella is another name that is in many generations including in Australia - actually two great aunts - Isabella & Jessie. :D

EDIT: Marriage ?

1887 SIM JOHN JACK ISABELLA EAGLESHAM /RENFREW

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave

Think Catherine's going to be a problem also for 1881 & 1891. I'm mainly relying on her birth indexed as Ireland 1841 +/-2.

1881 No Catherine MCNAUGHTON Ireland
1881 One Catherine JACK Ireland with husband John in Lanarkshire

1891 No Catherine JACK Ireland
1891 No Catherine MCNAUGHTON Ireland

If divorced she may of reverted back to maiden name. Will have another look.

cheers

Hello cp,

Yes. Born Ireland has been fairly constant. Age has changed through the years. In 1851 census she is listed as 13 so 1838. So I'd say 1840 +/- 2 should cover it. I've not seen it as 1843.

And, you are correct about reverting to maiden name in Scotland, except she didn't in 1871 where she was in Durham in England.

EDIT: I will search 1881 England now. :D

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Nothing in England in 1881. Visiting the KELLY family in England in 1871. The other names connected with BLACKLEY in Ireland are McGUIRE and ELLIST. I don't know if or how KELLY is connected.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

The other sister:

Janet JACK b. 1863 Paisley, Renfrew d. 1937 Govan Lanark

Unmarried.

Please see if you can find her. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Isabella SIM

Janet JACK b. 7 Sep 1863 Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland
William JACK & Sarah BLACKLEY
Batch: C115591

Death 1937 JACK JANET BLACKLEY F 82 GOVAN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/17 0590

Yes age at death is not a good fit.

EDIT: Unless that death is not the correct one and a Janet BLACKLEY married a JACK. ???

I've just checked and the BLACKLEY is other surname NOT mother's maiden surname.

Did Janet die before 1871?

Catherine whatever

Are they all missing?

Well if so I have others we can look for. >:D

Regards,

Dave
