Hello

The 8th battalion were involved in the battle of Delville Wood, an early engagement prior the the Battle of the Somme, the date was from 14 July - 3 September 1916, details here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Delville_Wood

His medal cards shows MM written on it no details as to when. Other medals include Star, Victory and British medals.

Hope this helps your research

Best Regards - Ron
