I have my doubts the William in Victoria a financier is the same one.

Didn't know there was another one in Qld.

No idea if connected or a totally different family from Ireland.

CATHERWOOD.—On July 20 at The Creagh,
Londonderry, Ireland, in his 65th year,
Robert, eldest son of the late William Cather-
wood, and brother of William Catherwood of
this city.

Way to old to be a brother of your William. Maybe the only way to find out if the VIC one is yours is for the marriage cert. to Dorothea and see if it has previous marriage info on it. Yeah i know they are expensive;) Im stuck.
Yes. I'm no longer searching for any connection to the other Catherwoods in Qld.

The one in Vic. is described as a civil servant or clerk. He arrived by ship from Papua. But had bought medals in South Africa.

The one in Qld. was an engineer.
I think he would have been in Qld. in 1914.

Gap to 1917 with the one in Vic. Trying to fill the gap or better still get overlap to prove we have 2x.

I've searched Trove again in 1915 and 1916 in Qld. and Vic. and can't find anything that helps.

Age at death ??

Seems to be another marriage or there are 2 or 3 x William James ??

The one in NSW an accountant.

Perhaps the one in Vic. moved to NSW. If so then do we have 1 or 2 ?
I came to this via Twitter, I'm not sure if you've had an answer. I've found a death on the Death At Sea register door Helen Catherwood 22nd Aug 1913, place Afric, vessel name Afric. Archive ref BT334, box 0052, page 166, archived at the National Archive, record set BritishArmed Forces And Oversees Deaths and Burials. I haven't looked at the NA site, but because of Covid you can have a look at docs for free.
