Hello Barbara,

Curious spacing.

William married 1835 and I have him in 1841 & 1851.

I'm curious about this one:

Helen Kerr
Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
birth: 03 Jun 1805
christening: 16 Jun 1805 , OLD MONKLAND, LANARK, SCOTLAND
residence: 1805 Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland
parents: Thomas Kerr, Helen Sneddan

I can't find a marriage yet for Thomas to Marion and I'm wondering if that is the same Thomas and 1st spouse. I have this marriage but I need Helen to be a sister of William for a James to be a nephew.

James HUTCHISON & Helen KERR
Marriage: 3 Nov 1822 Lanark, Lanark, Scotland

name: James Hutchison
gender: Male
baptism/christening date: 13 Apr 1831
baptism/christening place: , LANARK, LANARK, SCOTLAND
birth date: 22 Mar 1831
birthplace:
death date:
name note:
race:
father's name: James Hutchison
father's birthplace:
father's age:
mother's name: Helen Kerr
mother's birthplace:

I'd better add the 1822 marriage to my list.

The last one for Thomas & Helen seems to be Thomas in 1807. So to fit we need the 2nd marriage of Thomas to Marion between 1807 and 1810 (Isobel).

A marriage in Lanark in 1808 for a Thomas KERR to a Marion but using WARNOCK gives no hit.

It may not matter. I can't find that James born 1831 anywhere in 1841. But 1851 is interesting:

Piece: SCT1851/644 Place: Glasgow -Lanarkshire Enumeration District: 1
Civil Parish: College Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: -
Folio: 558 Page: 9 Schedule: 38
Address: 13 Muse Lane

Surname First name(s) Rel Status *** Age Occupation Where Born Remarks
HUTCHESON Helen Head W F 53 Winder Midlothian - Edinburgh
HUTCHESON James Son U M 17 Brass Founder Lanarkshire - Glasgow
HUTCHESON Helen Dau U F 26 Steam Loom Weaver Lanarkshire - Glasgow
MALCOLM Elizabeth Niece U F 2 Lanarkshire - Glasgow

Age for Helen does not fit with b. 1805. This may not be Helen KERR.

Can any of the four be found in 1861 and 1871?

Thanks Woody.

That's the one in post #5. Yes, he seemed the most likely but the problem we had first time around was finding a connection to KERR or COCHRAN(E).

Thanks Woody.

So Greenhill place in 1871 and address in 1873 on death certificate if the same James was London road.

So now we have to ask is the connection via 1st or 2nd spouse?

Surely this means we want Brassfounder James to have the maiden name Kerr ??

Woody, we have James in 1851 unmarried and in 1861 a widower. We don't actually have his spouse or her death, I presume very early in 1861.

Census on 7 April and daughter 1 month old.

I can't see a death with maiden name KERR or COCHRAN.

Mary Hutchison
Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
birth: 22 May 1860 TRADESTON,GLASGOW,LANARK,SCOTLAND
residence: 1860 Lana, Scotland
parents: James Hutchison, Mary Boyd

Helen Hutchison
Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
birth: 18 Mar 1858 TRADESTON,GLASGOW,LANARK,SCOTLAND
residence: 1858 Lana, Scotland
parents: James Hutchison, Mary Boyd

If those are the two children in 1861 then I can't find a death for Mary in 1861.

That does not add up either. 22 May 1860 is not 1 month old in April 1861.

I can see no birth for a Mary HUTCHISON/HUTCHESON/HUTCHINSON in Lanark in 1861.

Ok 3 x Helen HUTCHISON died in Lanark in 1861 - not M.S. KERR, COCHRAN(E) or MALCOLM. All 3 are too young. One aged 47 and the others under 40.
