Hello, I’ve been searching for more about a William MacIntosh born 1818 or 1820 in Nairnshire(like adept birthday ) . Was a bandsman in the 42nd regiment of foot .no look on Black watch museum as the William macintosh that they had was much older. I was told to try here . Possibly born in Cawdor as Nova scotia obituary sites him as being from Nairnshire.

Thanks everyone for your help. It’s looking like Auldearn is a possibility. He arrived in Nova Scotia in 1850 allegedly with the 42nd but the black watch museum said that there were not very detailed records for common enlisted at the point. Birthday possibly a sept birthday in Sept 1818-1820. Sons born in Nova Scotia Canada were Kenneth and John R.MacIntosh. Havent found much in the way of help regarding traditional naming patterns . Grandsons was Robert MacIntosh.
