No luck with Sarah MARTIN with parents Samuel & Margaret in the 1881 census. The N.S.W family, checked her siblings in case they married in QLD but no luck. Sarah is still living in 1936.

Thank you very much. It looks as though the 1932 death is correct. I looked for a marriage notice in a newspaper hoping it mentioned Sarah's parents but didn't find any mention of it.

This looks like the marriage to match those on the 'Goalpara':

Yes, I looked and could not find anything in 1881 census for any of them. I also looked on Qld BD&M site for Samuel and margaret's deaths but didn't find any that seemed to match - I expected to see 'born in England' or something.

Mary Estelle and Viva Adelle are daughters.

I'll have to wait until I can get a look up on the Qld. death fiche to 1964 for Sarah's death reg.

William Peel senior died 1887 in Gladstone and spouse Ellen died in 1932 in Brisbane. Buried with the KILFEDERs in Toowong Cemetery

Constable of police, Patricks Hill, (Cork) son of John, farmer to Sarah Jane Mellefont, full age, of Granabraher, daughter of John, farmer, by licence. Witnesses were William Mellefont and Richard J Wood.


Robert KILFEDER b. 1835 Ireland d. 1903 Brisbane

He migrated on the vessel 'Queen of the South' which left London 31 Aug and arrived Brisbane 9 ? Dec 1865.

He described himself as a farm labourer in order to obtain free passage. On arrival in Brisbane Robert joined the police force and was appointed to the dectective branch. He served in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Toowoomba and Ipswich. He met with a serious accident on duty and retired in 1880 on a pension with a rank of Sub-Inspector. In 1886 his address was Martin St Valley but on his death it had been for some time 'Miora' Lower Bowen Terrace, Brisbane.

The ER won't help but please see if you can find anything on Robert & Sarah Jane.
