George & Mary seem to fit so is that the right death in 1901 with the wrong parents or the wrong death for William SARA b. abt 1816 Mylor.

I need some burial records for Orange. Just found this:

The State Library of NSW has the following CD in it's Family History Collection:

NSW - Orange & District Cemetery Memorial Inscriptions

Half the trees have parents as George & Mary and the other half William & Louisa. :D

One tree has Mary's maiden name as MORWENNA.

Another tree has Louisa Rose but I can't tell if that means maiden name is ROSE or not.

name: William Rowe Sara
gender: Male
baptism/christening date: 28 Jan 1816
baptism/christening place: Mylor, Cornwall, England
birth date:
birthplace:
death date:
name note:
race:
father's name: George Sara
father's birthplace:
father's age:
mother's name: Mary
mother's birthplace:
mother's age:
indexing project (batch) number: I02340-7
system origin: England-EASy
source film number: 1596064
reference number: P 24 L 187

This baptism and the shipping record and the 1841 & 1851 census have parents as George and Mary yet trees that have his birth as 1816 Mylor and death in 1901 at Lucknow near Orange, NSW say his parents are as per the death reg - William & Louisa.

So, can a William SARA and Louisa be found in or near Mylor?

Can we find Mary's maiden name?

Where does the middle name Rowe come from?

Thanks gibbo. :)

I guess the author of one tree will have a hard job of proving it's Mary MORWENNA. :2fun:

If it is as simple as the informant getting both names wrong on the 1901 reg then why do 5 different trees insist his parents are William & Louisa? Where is any evidence of that couple in Mylor?

One makes an assumption without looking at the shipping record or the census or the baptism or marriage records and the other 4 copy that tree.

Hi Dave,

Re your post 6 - I have the Orange Dist Cemetery CD. Who are you looking for? I see that there are 15 SARAs buried there.

There is -Mary SARA died July 10 1896 aged 80 years buried Methodist Old Sec 1 Row 18 No. 2 with William SARA died July 29, 1901 aged 88 years.

Also recorded Methodist Old Sec 1 Row 18 No. 2 are a family of BENTLEYs. Are they related?

Regards
Sue

Hello Sue,

Thanks. Age for Mary fits with age on shipping record.

This is the info off one tree:

William Rowe SARA
Birth 1816 Mylor, Cornwall, England
Death 29 Jul 1901 Orange, NSW

Mary Ann KISSELL/KESTLE
Birth 1815 Mabe, Cornwall, England,
Death 1895 Orange, NSW

I wonder if the headstone was difficult to read hence 1895/1896.

Is that Methodist section of Orange or Lucknow?

Sorry, I have no information re BENTLEYs.

This is my starting point:

Eliza Ann SARA c. 13 Feb 1842 Mylor, Cornwall, England
- parents William SARA & Mary

Eliza Ann is buried in Methodist Rookwood.

Regards,

Dave

Can't find the marriage for William & Fanny.

Not in the Mabe parish register 1813-1837 records or FS or FreeREG.

I think we are almost done. :)

I have no proof yet, but it seems the informant got the names wrong on the 1901 death reg. If you make that assumption everything else fits. Not one I'm adding to my list of certificates to purchase.

Ok, thanks Sue.

I think I will inquire of several tree authors how they support the claims they make re parents and burial place.

Progress has been made this time round. This branch will get a revisit next year.

Regards,

Dave
