Thanks Emeltee.

Ellen c. 11 Apr 1819 Almondbury, Yorkshire
William HIRST & Sarah
Batch: C017126

Deaths Mar Qtr 1866
ARMITAGE Ellen 47 Huddersfield 9a 264

Ellen (age 47) was buried on 21 Feb 1866 at All Hallows, Almondbury. Abode Newsome.

There are three possible marriages that I can see for a William Hirst/Hurst to a Sarah.

Where is Hillhouse?
Hillhouse is in Cartworth township within Holmfirth chapelry.

This may confuse things somewhat.

The 1851 Census for William Hirst has the following

William Hirst 63 Cloth weaver (Woolen) Honley
Sarah Hirst 60 Honley
Ben Littlewood 30 Unmarried Son in law Stone mason Honley
Caroline Hirst 21 dau Unmarried Weaver Honley
Joah (sic) 14 son Honley
William H 1 Grandson Honley

I wonder if the son in law should be stepson as there is a marriage on the LDS site for a William Hirst to a Sarah Littlewood 18 Sept 1825 in Almondbury.

I'll let you think about that one!

Thanks Emeltee.

This was one of the three I found:

William Hirst
Spouse's Name Sarah Littlewood
Event Date 18 Sep 1825
Almondbury, Holme-Bridge, Yorkshire

Caroline fits but is 'Joah' actualy Sarah?

Thanks Emeltee.

If it's the same family then if that is Sarah Littlewood her age has gone from 40 to 60.

Several assumptions along the way. William the cloth weaver was alive in 1837 and in 1841 and in 1851.

Stepson I think.

I can't find a birth/baptism for Joah or Ben.

Age at death and baptism point to 1819 but

groom's name: Thomas Armitage
groom's age: 21
bride's name: Ellen Hirst
bride's age: 21
26 Dec 1837 Huddersfield, York, England (Church Record)

so Ellen was not 21. Age overstated at marriage or wrong baptism. Showing 32 in 1851.
