Been checking out the trees and queries re William and most refer to William junior who ended up in Victoria. I didn't know that, but I'm not chasing him or siblings. Seems we know more about William senior than anyone else. Not that we know much.

Six ships of the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Minotaur after the minotaur, a creature in Greek mythology:

HMS Minotaur was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line launched in 1793. She fought at the battles of the Nile and Trafalgar and was wrecked in 1810 off Texel.

HMS Minotaur was a 74-gun third rate launched in 1816, renamed Hermes in 1866 and broken up in 1869.

I had found him, but I assumed you knew about him...

I couldn't see anything else on his career, I think he ended up as a fisherman...

Hi all,

I am a direct descendant of William Jr who came to Australia.

Has anyone got anything further on William Sr's father, Jonas Swalling? All I've been able to fine is his burial on 8th Feb 1789 in Greenwich.

As a side note, all Swallings in Australia are descended from William Swalling b. 1774.
