Hi folks.
William Swannell, 1804, Chearsley, Bucks.
Parents are Abel Swannel & Mary(nee.Gibbard).
Enlists in the 37th Reg. of Foot. 30 Apr 1826 @ Aylesbury. (Royal Newfoundland Companies).
Oct 1826. Portsmouth.
1831 - West Indies.
1836 - British North America.
1837 - New Foundland, Canada.
1850 - St John's, Newfoundland, Canada. (Discharge.)
1851 census. Living back in Chearsley, as a lodger. Occ. Out pensioner.
1852 in Chearsley, he marries Catherine Tombs. She is a spinster, he is a widow.
1880. Dies, and buried in Chearsley.
I can't see any mention of a spouse or family in his Chelsea Pensioner, army records.
I doubt there's a chance of finding his first marriage, but you never know who's out there, looking for a father.
Steve.
