That's the birth of a son of these two:

1918/1874 DAVEY JAMES - FELTES FRANCES - BOMBALA

James being the one born 1845 and baptised 1855.

One tree has his death in 1897 no place mentioned but that does not fit the death notice.

That tree says his father was Richard - mother's name not listed.

Tree says born abt 1801 so this is a good fit for age but it's not south coast of NSW.

Thanks Geoff.

It's feeling a bit better thanks. I had the dressing changed this morning now that the bleeding has stopped to one that's not as tight. Also had a tetanus booster shot and started taking anti-biotics.

It's not raining and there is plenty of work in the garden that will have to wait.

Born 1845 but baptised in 1855. Could have been born in NZ or NSW.

Likely to have arrived in Victoria from NZ and later moved to Sydney.

Yeah. Throbbing away.

That is the index entry for the V= Volume = Church baptism record I posted.

Crazy method but it's a baptism record but the year in the index is the year of birth not year of baptism. Abode is that at time of baptism. Pob is never listed.

There is no way of telling from the film where James was born. NSW is an assumption.

Susan was in Sydney by Nov 1848 and witnesses look to be her father and sister so I'd assume the family arrived together in Victoria from NZ.

PROV Unassisted Index starts in 1852.

Searching for 'William Davey' in TROVE gives 1850 as earliest in Victoria.

I had better find another query.

Actually, I'll catch you later Geoff.

Hello all.

I can see that it is a while since this thread has been updated/added to, I've been doing some family history research on wife's side, that's how I found this forum, and was wondering if;

It has been discovered when William & Elizabeth Davey (and family) moved from NZ to Victoria,

If the date & place of William had been found (given Elizabeth's death notice indicates he was dead before she died in 1878 )

Just out of interest regarding James Davey, and where he might have been born, I found an obituary for him, which states:
"Bombala Times, Friday 4 January 1924
On the 27th December Mr. James Davey died at his home in Bombala, after a long illness. He was 83 years of age, and death was the result of a constitution weakened by old age. Born in New Zealand, Mr. Davey came with his parents to Monaro when a baby, and here he has resided ever since."

Thanks,

Scott.

Hello Scott and welcome to the Forum.

I will check my tree. We don't move topics to a completed list because they are never really complete. Always something out there to find.

I'll have another look at shipping records and search newspapers again.

No death has been found yet for William.

Arrival probably between 1842 and 1845 not yet found.

Index has a different date.

Death 1040/1924 DAVEY JAMES - WILLIAM T ELIZABETH - BOMBALA * 28 Dec 1923

??
... The late Mrs. E. Johnson, of Burke's Creek, Craigie, was his only sister. ...
Amelia, Susan, Eliza and ?

107/1847 V1847107 32C JOHNSON EPHRAIM - DAVEY EMMA - CJ= CofE Sydney St. James

Death JOHNSON EMMA 9184/1911 WILLIAM T ELIZABETH - BOMBALA

When and where was Emma born?

I've checked the image again for the baptism of James. Writing is clear. Details as per post #11.

Thanks for your super quick reply's Dave.

I have Emma's date and place of birth as 7/10/1827, Somerset.

Emma is also mentioned (Mrs. E. G. Johnson, Burke's Creek ) in Elizabeth's death notice, both in the SMH & Somerset County Gazette -

Somerset County Gazette - Taunton, Somerset, England, 28 September 1878
DEATHS
At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Johnson, Burke's Creek, Little Plains River, New South Wales, Mrs. Elizabeth Davey, widow of the late William Thomas Davey, of Taunton, and daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Garrett, Bath, aged 75.

Regards,

Scott.
