This looks like their arrival. I can't find a passenger list, but there are almost identical records for James b. 1824, Charlotte b. 1842 and James b. 1848. Can't see an entry for Ann b. 1851

Seems to be only one baptism to Walter & Harriet. Can't see the marriage in NSW reg.

Acording to one tree Walter died in 1851 in Victoria. No burial in NSW reg 1850-1852.

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957) - Wednesday 10 May 1854 p.8

They had both died by that date - application for Letters of Administration.

Walter Veitch [no date of death ] 1/374 VPRS 28/P0, unit 11; VPRS 28/P1

Harriet Veitch [no date of death] 1/374 VPRS 28/P0, unit 11; VPRS 28/P1

Very large files re Probate. Must have taken 3 years to get through the court 1851-1854.

He was a saddler and harness maker as was his son Walter.

I can't find it mentioned in newspapers:

Death 1851 Mt Alexander, Victoria: Lost in bush, returning to Geelong from gold fields for Christmas. Probably robbery for his gold caused his death.

Thanks Geoff.

I'll check that again. The application for Letters of Administration does not mention an occupation. It mentions son Thomas not Walter junior.

Walter junior is a saddler.

Geelong Advertiser and Intelligencer (Vic. : 1851 - 1856) - Friday 7 December 1855 p.2
INSOLVENT COURT.
Wednesday, 5th December.
Before J. H. Mercer. Esq., Commissioner.
IN RE WALTER VEITCH.
This was an applicaion on behalf of the de
fendant, who formerly carried on bouiness as
saddler and harness maker, under the firm of
Lucas and Veitch, for his discharge certificate.

I have not tried to download it in this weather.

Geoff, please see if you can find the VEITCH family arriving Tasmania per 'Lady East' on 23 Oct 1833.

Thanks.

The family arrived in Tasmania and the family left Tasmania but they don't appear in the Arrivals or Departures database on Tasmanian Archives.
