I'm sure most of you will have come across Whites Trade Directories but who was he? I was researching a building in Sheffield in Bank Street. A mid to late Victorian Building which is the address for William White at one time. Earlier addresses give William White as Broomhill and later Collegiate Crescent Broomhall. The only person I can find in 1841 is a William White who is 26 years old. That can't be him as White started his directories in 1827 when he was working with E Baines. So who was William White?
